I was thinking about studding up my Target stripper shoes, to make them look a little less like Shoes From Target, when I saw Rumi's post about her Converse. I was so excited to find my black on black Converse hi-tops in Paris for the same price as I would have paid in the States (Converse usually cost 80 Euros or so...) that I snatched them up. Once I had them, I found they were super hard to wear with pants - especially since black skinny jeans are my daily staple - that they made my legs and feet look like they were painted with black canvas. NOT cute. With tights, or leggings and dresses, they looked great. Anyway, I saw Rumi's Converse and thought that doing mine would be a good test run for my studding skills; canvas is much easy to work with than leather (or pleather).
The sneaks turned out great, though I totally ruined my right thumb nail in the process, it is still sore 2 days later.
Then, last night, I started my heels. I was channeling something Gucci-esque, or as Gucci as Target can get...
I can't decide if I should keep going or not. And please ignore the strange angle of the photos, I do not, in fact, have kankles.

liberty + nike = sweet sneaks
I first spotted these in the February issue of Teen Vogue. And man oh man was I smitten.
Now, the angle of this pic is very strange, and makes them look like giant floral beasts. But imagine them in a dainty size 9 (HA!) and they are much more attractive.
Any one who knows me, knows I am obsessed with Liberty prints. It probably started from my infancy when I started wearing the smocked dresses that my mother made me, then the dresses my dolls wore, and then the dresses I made myself. At school, if it was possible, I would include a Liberty print as my print, to base the fabric story around. And don't even get me started about the store in London.

OMG. I almost died. Every product you could ever imagine in every Liberty print EVER. Unfortunately, the GBP was double the dollar at the time of my visit. Bummer. I did hear that the store might be going out of business, I will cry if that is, in fact, true.
Anyway, I will be dreaming of these sneakers in the days of unemployment ahead...

best deal ever
I braved the Glendale Galleria yesterday to go to target for some moving supplies, but more fun, to visit Forever 21 in search of the amazing necklace that the hostess was wearing at Canelé. Alas, the daily turn over there prevented me from finding the perfect Tom Binn's esque neckace (my loathing of knock offs comes and goes with the balance in my checking account) but I did try on a couple cute pair of shoes. Since, I'm still living out of a suitcase, due to my horrible housing situation, I have very limited clothing options. I can deal with wearing jeans and t-shirts all the time, it's the shoe sitch that is really killing me. I packed one pair each of flip-flops, ballet flats and sneaks. So, I decided to get a quick fix and took these Miu Miu ish oxfords to the register.

I was prepared to pay the 40 dollar price tag, but when they rang me up she told me they were 7.95! They might as well have given them to me!

in case you were wondering, i'm the girl in the leopard print boots.
Back in June, I was wondering around down town with my dear friend Anna, when we stopped into the shoe store Olive. I've never been a huge fan of this store, not really sure why, it's probably that I have a weakness for Halo and tend to go their before anywhere else when it comes to big shoe purchases. Anyway, back to June. We quickly browsed, and as we were leaving I spotted just about the most beautiful boots I've ever laid my eyes on. Knee high, chestnut brown, flat but with the slightest platform, with HAND PAINTED leopard spots by Georgina Goodman. the $800+ price tag prevented me from trying them on, even for shits and giggles. There was just NO WAY.

I left the store feeling sad, knowing I would never ever have those shoes in my possession. Fast forward 3 or 4 months, I was out shopping with my mom, who was on the hunt for new ballet flats and new flat boots. No luck at Halo, so i remembered about Olive, and the leopard boots. Drove past Olive, to find that it was no longer there! The sadness of that first day returned. Thank goodness for the Internet. WOO! Not only does Olive have a website, but my beloved boots were 60% off and available in my size. Making them, still expensive, but about the price I would pay for a new pair of boots full price. I don't think I've ever pulled my credit card out faster.
Since Olive is based in Portland, my shoes came in less than 48 hours. They are just as pretty in person. For that very reason, and their still hefty, tho lowered price tag, I will be sporting these boots on a near daily basis. I have yet to sufficiently play dress up with them yet, so I'll be posting outfits featuring the new loves of my life a little later. So, yes, that girl with the bright blond hair and the leopard boots on the other side of the bar or crossing the street or eating lunch, is most likely me.
